Why can’t I crack the onebox?

While doing some research last week, I came across some rather interesting information about base feeds appearing in the OneBox. You can view it here.

Google – Items may appear on Google under the following conditions:

  • Your items are bulk uploaded and updated at least 3 times per week.
  • Your items are highly structured with relevant attributes.
  • Your account is in good standing with a reliable upload history.
  • Your bulk upload has been approved by a content specialist.

It appears that not just any feed can get listed in the OneBox. It appears that daily submissions are a good idea if you want to show up in that area. I never realized I should list that as a “Best Practice”, but I’m going to have to add that to my list. That reminds me, I need to start a list of best practices.

  1. >>Your bulk upload has been approved by a content specialist.

    Can you define *content specialist*?

  2. I’d assume that’s someone at Google that manually looks at your feed and approves it for inclusion. They don’t really specify, and that’s a quote straight from Google’s website.

  3. Got it… thanks Brian.
